Getting a bit annoyed with implanon

I finished my period on Friday last week. I was bleeding for about 2 weeks...this is not unusual for me since being on the implanon.
Yesterday I got my period again...6 days after I finished my last one. And it's not like it's just light bleeding either. It's moderate to heavy again!

I like the convienence of the implanon and the fact that because at the time of getting it I had a health care concession so it only cost me $5 once and that's it for 3 years. But I don't like the unpredictability of my period. I have gone for as long as 50 days without any bleeding, but then I have the occasional time where it's like this where I bleed for about 2 weeks, then stop for a week, then bleed for another 3-10 days. However, usually this is followed by a large number of days with no bleeding.

I keep forgetting to record when it starts & finishes so I haven't been able to see if there is any sort of pattern or not.

I usually buy the biggest box of tampons and will go through an entire box for one period. Before I was on implanon, one big box would last me 2 or 3 periods.

I'm not planning to change my contraception because as I said, I like the fact that it cost me $5 once and that's it for 3 years.
I just wanted to have a vent that's all.

I was going to come and share my (less than optiomal) experience of implanon, but since you're not looking to change contraception, there's probably not much point Suffice it to say, adding 10kgs in 10 months was NOT my idea of a good contraception (and it pretty much had to be the Implanon as nothing else lifestyle-wise had changed) and I can totally appreciate why you would want to vent about what's going on for you atm.

Vent away! It sucks when something that is supposed to be a good thing creates other issues.

FWIW I had the opposite ie no period but the hormonal issues it gave me got the better of me and I had it removed after 12 months.

I've had mine for about 18 months. It expires in April 2011.
DH suggested that when we're finished having kids that we BOTH do something permenant. I think I like that idea.

not good! that would be very annoying! i have implanon too. only had 2 weeks of spotting and heavy bleed about 3 weeks after i got it put in. every now and then i feel like i am gonna get a period but it hasnt happend again yet. only had it for a few months. i had troubles with the GP placing the implanon in so i still cant feel it under my skin. ultra sound confirmed it but i am dreading when i have to have it out. she said she will have to go digging for it! EEEK!
