    AB's and poo?

DS has a shocking ear infection, both ears, has been put on clamoxyl (amoxyl) duo, since he has been sick he has refused all food except breast, has been feeding evry 2-3 hours and trying to use me as his dummy as well (poor thing!)

anyway, I dont know if its coincidental or not but since he has been on the ABs (yesterday afternoon) he has had 2 or 3 sloppy green poos. they seem to be burning his poor little bum, his scrotum is red raw as is his bum crack.

I have been using sudocrem on his bum and bits, but Im just wondering if anyone has experienced any thing like this?

is it possibly an allergic reaction to the AB's? is it just because he hasnt eaten solids in 3 days? Im a bit worried right now, any help appreciated. TIA.

Unfortunately diarrhoea is common with many forms of ABs. There is not a lot you can do about it if he needs them though. Just keep plenty of cream on his bottom as you can, and give him as much nappy free time as you can - you might need to try to keep him on a towel or something though! Also be extra quick with changing his nappies as diarrhoea burns skin really quickly.

The poos should go back to normal soon after he finishes the ABs, and with plenty of cream and air the bottom shouldn't take too long to get better.

My DS recently went on ab's too and had some very acidic poos that burnt his little bum and bits too. Now he's off them he is back to his normal poos. I think its just that their guts are so immature and struggle a bit with the medicne. I hope your little one is better soon ear infections suck!

As MR said, AB's can cause Diarrohea - in both kids and adults. it should clear up after they are finished. just try to protect his bits as well as you can with a barrier cream

Be very generous with the cream. The idea is to stop the poo touching his skin
