Hi all I was just wondering as I only have 9 weeks til due....my first was 39 weeks 6hr labour my second was 35 weeks and 5 hr labour and posterior and my third I had prelabour at 29 weeks which was stopped then a scan said my cervix was still 3cm I went in at 30 weeks to get checked and my waters broke then he just flew out 30 min later no contractions I could feel or anything....I'm abit worried as this is number 4 what to expect and if anyone knows whether the Dr's take special precautions or whatever coz I had such a fast labour last time or if it won't really matter.....Right now the main talk is reaching full term so it hasn't come up but was wondering if anyones had this and maybe been induced to make sure your actually in hosp when they're born...
The hosp is 25 min drive down the freeway when it's clear plus I have children to organize so would be a good hour or so before I make in and I don't wanna have a baby in the car or anything
wow! they have been quick...
my first labour was 4 hrs and second was 10 hrs so i was going to just post that it may not be quicker... but yours all have been!
Are you seeing an OB? mine gave me some advice just to get to hosp asap and also to call an ambulance if i am at home and i dont think i can get to hosp in time.. or am too uncomf. he was going to come to my house i fneeds be! he also got my Dh to read up on homebirthing jic!
sorry not much advice but good luck!
My first was 2hr* labour (39weeks) - almost birthed in the ambulance but i held off pushing until i was wheeled through the door
My second was again 2 hr* labour (37 weeks) - birthed on my bedroom floor
I would say make sure DH is up to date with what to do and have some things ready in case bub comes hard and fast (leave a homebirth book next to the toliet for him to read lol).
go to the hospital early if this is what you are doing and DONT let me convince you to go home as you will be 'ages'.......
*established labour - regular contractions - birth
A friend of mine had a 6 hour first labour, then a 25 min second labour. Her dr has said that if she has a 3rd, it'll be best to call the ambulance as chances are she won't make it to hosipital. So my advice, call the ambulance. Especially as the hospital is a 25 min drive away, and you have children to think of.
try and arrange for whoever is looking after the kids to meet you at the hospital to pick them up. I made it to hospital after dropping the kids at my mum's, I was already 8 dialated and nearly ready to push.
Do you need to subscribe to the ambulance in your state? Make sure you are JIC you need to call them because it might be better to call for help to come to you rather than birthing in the car!
What Misty said is a good idea and we had planned on doing that too if it was needed, but can you ask all of your neighbours (that you think are able to help) that you might need help and get their phone numbers so you can get someone to sit the kids while your help arrives. You might be surprised of how many would be willing to help and it doesn't matter what time of night because everyone gets excited about a new baby
Also be prepared that DH might not be able to be there JIC so the ambulance can take you but he stays home with the others.
