Hi girls,
I had a Mirena put in last week, I got a little bit of pain and I needed more than a panty liner for the first 48hrs but now I need a panty liner 24/7. But what was weird is the clots I have lost. Has anyone else lost clots??
I have endometriosis and I am still getting bad ovulation pain (plus all my normal pain). This is why I got the stupid thing in the first place. I hope all this stops soon.
Has any one with endo had a good outcome with the Mirena??
I really need to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
I hope it will settle down and help with all my pain I have from the endo.
My Gyn said things should settle down within 3 months and then I should see some kind of difference by then, so I told her that I'll give it 6 months.
sorry TMI ahead!!!
My AF is very heavy or some say that I "flood" sometimes I have to use maturnity pads, I also loose alot of clots and have seriouse pain. The last few months I have had to use endone as pan forte is not strong enough to help with the pain.
I need to be able to live a life that is not centered around my AF!!! My monthly pain cycle rules my life which in turn affects the whole family.
i had similar probs i used to bleed for 12 weeks straight before i got it put in, and it did take 6 months for it to settle down completely but it made a massive difference. i got it out to try to ttc and its a massive difference again. iv got problems from endo and scarred tissue and this was the miracle worker for me.
if youv got any questions im happy to answer.
take care rach xox
Hi Rachel
Thanks for your reply.
I know that I have a bad case of endo and that my POD is scarred from endo.
You said you have scar tissue and adhesions, are these in or outside your uterus. I hope it is outside!!
Did you get blood clots in the week after you got it put in??
outside my womb and all through my abdomin - i had part of my bowel removed as a baby. i didnt have bloods taken but i had the mirena put in under general as i had a d&c and a dye and camera at the same time. xox i see my gynae tomorrow so i should know more then xox
Hi Rach
How did things go at the Dr's??? I hope you got good news!!
I have been to see my GP and she showed me a report from the Gyn. I have alot of endo on the bowel (bad enough to be seen on an U/S) and on my right Overy I have an "Involuting Corpus Luteum" (I know what a corpus luteum is but not sure what it means when it is involuting).
These days its the pain that gets me, I have it most of the time. If I am lucky the couple of days after my AF is the only time I have pain that only requires a panadole.
Hi
Its now been 3 weeks and I am due for my first AF in the next couple of days.
I have been getting spotting and clots during that time but in the last 4 days the spotting has gotten heavyer and I would now call it light bleeding and the pain is getting worse also. I am not sure if AF has come early or if to expect everything to get worse (heavyer still and more pain). Today I needed pan forte to get out of bed this morning so I haven't started the day off well at all.
I had a mirena put in in April and it worked really well for my heavy periods but had started causing my migraines to get worse so i had it removed last week. Since then I've had a really heavy period with what look like quite big clots. They're probably not as big as i imagine :-) but just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and is it normal?
It feels as if it's all been collecting there just waiting for the coil to come out :-(
Hi Denise
I have had the Mirena in for 6 weeks. Since I had my AF I have had light bleed, it is heavyer than when the Mirena was first put in, its too much for a panty liner and I have clotts all the time now. I am also getting more head aches and have a few other things that are happening that I am worried about.
I have been thinking about getting it out but if I am going to get worse AF and clotting I might wait and see if it will stop my AF. So far it has been nothing but trouble.
Hi Chris
I have endo too but have had no problems since I had a laparoscopy in Oct 2007 which is good. I had the mirena put in for really heavy periods and these were reduced to almost nothing within 2 months. I really didn't want to get it removed but the migraines were coming every week so I had to do something about it. I would persevere with it and see what happens after a few months, I was lucky in that it worked quickly.
I think if my periods are going to be so heavy again then having a hysterectomy could be an option as I'm 48 and not going to be wanting more children!!
Hope things work out for you x
Hi
I went to see the Gyn to have it checked at the 8 week mark. I was bleeding like I always have with the Mirena. The Dr wants me to start on some oral provera tablets as she thinks the mirena is not working for me. I have decided not to take the extra homone as provera makes me gain weight. So I have still got it in for another 8 weeks untill the next reveiw. The Dr is hopeing that the bleeding settles down and stops, I am not holding my breath.
I feel like it is causeing me more pain. Did anyone with endo have more pain while they were being treated with a mirena.
The Dr also said that it just works in the pelvic area as that is where it is put. But it would have to be absorbed into the blood stream to affect the endo on the organs outside of the uterus. Just like if I put in a suppository it works on the pain in my body. To me it is confuseing. How dose it affect the endo if it does not enter the blood stream to get to the endo???
The registra could not answer my questions...
I am feeling like the Dr's have put me in a too hard basket and want me to go away.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
Yup spotting on and off or for 6 months is normal. I have PCOS and had mine put in and taken out.. Was great when it settled down.. but made me crazy.. from the hormone.
Everyone is different.. stick it out for 6 months. see then.
Thanks Didispunk,
The plan was to stick with it for 6 months, but the ovulating pain is getting worse than what it was before and I am not just spotting I have a light AF 24/7.
The Registra told me that the hormone stays in the pelvis area and can not cause weight gain or panic attacks etc.
I feel as though I am in more pain now and I am bleeding 24/7. It was put in to help with the pain and lighten my AF. I am going crazy with all the pain and the constant bleeding.
I am just so over it.
Thanks
Chris
