Can anyone recommend a preschool sport for my 3yo to participate in? Everything I come across seems to be more for 5yo upwards but surely there has to be something like football or soccer or something gearing towards younger preschoolers.
DS went to a preschool (2-4 yr) soccer clinic every week for a term but TBH it was too old for him, he just wanted to kick a ball around and they wanted to teach them to dribble etc I quit after one term as did all my GFs.
Its really a difficult age to get them into formal sport as they don't have the concentration required usually.
Both my boys did kick start and they loved it. They do a different sport each week and a bit of kicking every week to warm up. It's pretty low key.
They keep asking to go back but I keep forgetting to enroll them
They've just started little A's in some area's for younger kids from 3 - 5. They started it in my home town last year, but I'm not sure if they do it here or not.
Little Athletics do have a Tiny Tots group from 3yo to 5yo, but I'm not sure what the cutoff age limit is for the 3yo - a woman I know said her DS only just scraped in by 10 days, but not sure when his birthday is.
My girls all started calisthenics at 3 years of age, if we where staying in Melbourne, then DS almost 3 would have probably joined in next year too. He loves it. We are moving to Adelaide though and I'm not sure what their new club thinks about boys doing dancing, I'll have to ask.
In Adelaide the little aths club they are going to does tiny tots too, but here in Melbourne they don't.
In our area we have little athletics for the little ones, just google the Little Athletics website for details of ages etc....
We also have T-ball for littlies.
