Using a normal cot as a cosleeper bed

I am looking into all my options for sleeping and really like the idea of co-sleeping but am worried that our bed is too small and the fact that DH is not as keen as me. I looked into those cosleeper beds like Arms reach etc but they are a bit expensive. They also look quick to grow out of. I saw one comment on another site while I was researching where someone just used a normal dropside cot but took away the dropside and had it right beside their bed.

Has anyone here done that? In that case, do you strap the cot to your bed to make it secure? Was it hard to find a cot that was the same height as your bed mattress? Is it possible?

it is very possible. Alot of people do this. Its pretty easy to get one that is the same height as the mattress. U can strap it to your bed to make it more secure I tried this with Mia when she was little and it was fine

Yep, we still sleep like this. Our cot and our bed are the same height and we just have the cot in the corner and our bed right up next to it.
