    baby movements at 22 weeks

Hi, i am 22 weeks preg (first time mum with huge anxieties as i'm sure you have figured by now!!)

Some of my friends who are only a little further along or a few weeks less along feel their babies moving all the time during the day, and when they have movements its for long periods.
I feel bubs move through out the day but there can be hours between each one, and its generally only 1 or 2 or 3 movements in a close distance of time (like when i feel 1 i put my hand there i can feel maybe 1 or 2 more in about 5 minutes)

Is this normal for 22 weeks? or should i be worried about its muscles not developing enough and things like muscular dystrophy and so on??

edit - i am also larger then my friends would this affect the feelings?

im also a bit larger than most girls and i didnt feel anything until 23 weeks and even then it was one or 2 movements every few hours, it will pick up trust me!!! and you will wish it would stop! also you may have an anterior placenta, i did and this can also affect movements being felt.

    Hi Ttcanxiety
There is nothing to worry about, everything is normal. Some women don't feel movements until 25 weeks. And yes, it is quite common for a larger woman not to feel much movement in the early stage. I am sure that in the next week or two you will be feeling lots of movement.

I was 28 weeks before I felt baby movements with DD - I felt flutters about a week before that. I am not small or big (size 12-14) but found out towards VERY end of pregnancy that my placenta was towards front so that may hev prevented me feeling movements. Also I think you feel more as it goes later.

    Sounds normal hun,

every pregnancy and every baby and every woman is different, so try to not compare what you are going through with your friends etc. Babies can have on and off days, some days they may be very very actve and other days they can be incredibly quiet as well.

Also depending on where the placenta is placed will determine how much movement you feel also.
