If you have a standard size single bed the width is two of these, i will need to measure when I get home on the length though.

King size beds are 6 foot wide. I think they are a similar length to a queen. We don't all fit in our king size (the 4 of us) but thats cos both kids sleep sideways.

Hiya Maz- Just measured mine its 202cm long and 184cm wides.
We are actualley thinking of downsizing ours back to a queen, sometimes it feels like Pete and I are in different beds. We are going away for a week and staying in a queensized bed, I guess we will make our mind for sure after that see if don't end up kicking each other etc.

Ohh I want a king size bed but DH is concerned about how little floor space we would have I dont have an issue as less floor to clean LOL.

He also did remind me that if we got one that would need new doona, sheets linen etc so would be $$$$ grr

Good luck if you get one, we need to do something as our mattrees hurts both our backs

We would LOVE a king sized bed! Our 3yo still comes in and co-sleeps on cold nights and then because DH likes to suck our warmth (I like to be cool in bed due to a over-active metabolism) I am usually left clinging to about 10cm on my side. I have already bought king size linen... 3 sets... now just the bed!

I thought King size was the size of 2 king singles? We had to borrow 2 king singles as a base for our new mattress whilst waiting for the frame to come in.

    Ali maybe we should swap

I dont have to worry about new linen....cause I had to buy king sized fitted sheets for the stupid pillow top mattress is so thick. And we have had a kind sized doona for years now cause Jed is a doona hog and takes it all then complains that he's hot

SO Imthinking 190cm wide allowing for a nice wodden bed frame ...there's a nice oriental one on ebay in Werribee that I was oggling

I think a king size is 30cm wider than a standard queen size and about the same length.

Go for it maz...I'd love a king size bed, we're talking about getting one too because our mattress is awful!

Yep, that sounds about right. We have 2 king singles as our base as well, the only way i think it could fit down the hallway, in through the bedroom door

Man...I'd be happy with a queen!! I have a queen base, but we're povo & only have a double mattress! I love visiting mum & dad & chilling on their big king size bed!!

I was reading recently that King sized beds are becoming more popular. Funny hey, how my grandparents shared a double bed, my parents a queen size, and now we're all itching for king size beds! I wonder if that's related to how our houses are all getting bigger and that sort of thing...we're all wanting more space these days?
I'm sure DH would love one, I sprawl all over our bed.

We are so glad we got ours. The delivery guy did question me about why we wanted one. Just had to point out that DH is not a small bloke and they the kids often get in bed. Just have to get used to the bed being wider than it is longer, often get confused when trying to put on the sheets.
