Wedding Make Up - How much did you and/or bridesmaids pay??

    Just curious to know.
I paid $160 for all the make up for the day then was charged another $280 on top of this. There was me (bride), 3 bridesmaids, Mother of bride and groom.
Am i being unreasonable in thinking a total of $440 is expensive for the total cost of the day??

I paid about 75$ a person for make up when I got married.
I'd kind of have to say from stories I've heard and some of the places I looked at, you got a pretty good price. Some places I looked at were 100$ per person.
But that was in Adelaide - so I'm not sure what it was like near you.

I paid $50 per person - there was me, 2 bridesmaids and my mum - so $200 all up for makeup. Did you have a trial as well? This makes it more expensive. I didn't bother with a trial.

No trial. She brought some friend out who just sat around my house while she did the make up. They both ate my food drank my champagne (no problem just pointing out the facts) and i paid for all the make up for the day.

When you say you paid for the make up, is this the makeup the used on you? And the other amount was for their work in putting it on? Did you get to keep any of it? $160 is ALOT for makeup. You could buy a whole new set of stuff for that much.

My girls all paid for there own hair and make up.

Hair for me was $95 and make up was $65

Girls were all $75 for hair and $65 for make up.

I had to buy the lipstick that the make up person recommened so we could touch it up during day was just a revlon on so not massivly expensive.

I paid $160 for all new make up that was used on me and all the girls. This i got to keep. So the $280 was purely for putting it all on us. (This didn't go through a business either, the $280 was cash in hand)

Thats weird - was that something you chose or they did? I mean at least you got to keep it. But like Feeb said, I just bought lipstick so we could keep touching it up through the day. Which makes sense.

Ah ok good thing you got to keep it. My makeup artist used her own supplies on us, but we each brought along our own lippy so we could touch up during the day/night.

Isn't it crappy how expensive things get once you mention the word "wedding".

I paid $85 pp for makeup - me plus 3 bridesmaids - she was fabulous. We didnt do a trial either, I paid an extra $10 pp because she was travelling in the city from country victoria
Her daughter did my hair, that was $200. We did the bridesmaids hair ourselves (or rather, my sister did it lol)

    So...
You + 3 BM + MOB + MOG @ $440 = $73 pp - I think that is pretty spot on. (Especially since you got to keep the makeup)

I paid $60 at Gauci in Adelaide - and the girl did a fab job (just got the wedding pics today to confirm that!)....

I didn't bother with a trial either, if we were going to go out somewhere special I may have though - but a date with my 4 wk old son and his bottle at midnight didn't really stack up as a reason to get all fancied up!

I am a makeup artist. I mostly do weddings and formals. I charge $80 for the bride and $60 for bridesmaids and Mother of the bride and groom. I make sure I only use superior products like MAC or Stila or Nars. It is really important to always check that the makeup artist you use is qualified and professional. For example I will never drink a clients champagne or eat their food, I am their to do a job as quickly as possible.

    Hope this helps a bit.
