How Often Do You Get Your Carpets Steam Cleaned? (and other Q's)

Got my carpets booked in for cleaning tomorrow... 4 large rooms... steam cleaned for about $130.

I have them done every 8 months, roughly. Usually after the school holidays (start of term 4) and then again just before winter around May.

I use a local guy... he has his own business, I don't think it's a franchise. He does a reasonable job... not perfect but our carpets are very old and I'm not that particular... he gets the dirt out and all the new stains... and he's cheerful

What's your regime? and how much do you pay? and who do you use?

We used to hire the machine from Safeway once a year and have them professionally done once a year. I liked Drytron the best. From memory it was about $130. I used another company once because they advertised a cheaper price and found the man to be so rude that I have never used them since. I have polished boards in this house so haven't had to have any carpets cleaned thankfully.

We only ever got the carpets cleaned when we had to for renting (once a year)! Now we have our own house.... we didn't bother for the first three years as the carpets were soooo old. We've not long replaced them, so haven't had them done yet. I know the carpet cleaning people said you should have it done every six months.

Yep, our house is mainly floorboards too... it's just the bedrooms and the lounge. I also don't re-hire grumpy/rude people a second time no matter how good they do the job.

I'm so glad we don't have stairs to do. Once when we lived in a townhouse with stairs it cost us about $400 to have the whole house done... although i did ask for scotchguarding... but I remember it was the stairs that were the killer!

we rent, so obviously we get them done at the end of the lease. althought i did want to have these ones done after 6 months, as they are just terrible.

i think once we own, i would have them done every 6 months or so.

When I am moving out! lol

We have always rented so never worried too much about it but now we have our own place I want to get them done every 6 months - we have a beige coloured carpet and would like it to stay that way! lol

We only have carpet in the the bedrooms, the front lounge and Charlotte play room so 6 rooms, but they charge for 7 because of the size of the master bedroom

We rent too... but I just don't like the look of dirty carpets... 3 kids might have something to do with it. We've been here 6 years... I can't imagine how bad they would look if we'd waited until we leave....if we leave. We would like to buy this house anyhow... so we treat it like our own.

I like to get mine done yearly, but DH doesn't think its neccessary
Was recommended a brillo bloke from Scorseby but his van couldn't make it up the Belgrave hill so now I use a local dandenong ranges cleaner.

I find moving the furniture the most difficult part of it all but geeze it looks good after!
