hi,
i am thinking about becomming a demonstrator, but i am just wanting to know of any good and bad experiences before i decide. the lady just dropped off my orders ( i had a party the other week) and she just happened to say ' have you ever thought about being a demonstrator before.. i just think you have a great personality and would be good at it' which was kind of off putting because i was thinking does she say that to everyone she drops her stuff off to! hmmm... i dunno.
I used to be a demonstrator and to be honest, we only used to say that to people who we honestly believed had the 'talent' KWIM?
I did enjoy being a demonstrator, the only bad thing is i was expected to travel 2 hours every week for meetings - which just wasnt suitable for me having a young baby.
You meet lots of new people which is great!! I still have people stop me on the street who remember me from doing their parties.
You have nothing to lose if you give it a go!!!! i say go for it!!!!
She probably does say to just about everyone. It is part of the job. Well as a demonstrator you have to give names to your manager of who you think was "nice" at the party you did, so they can then ring them and see if you would like to join the team. The hardest bit is the first 2 weeks where you have to do 4 to 6 parties. After that it is pretty smooth sailing.
well the lady that did my party is the manager! she reckons she is really busy and doesnt have enough people in her team to 'sell off' all her parties too. whatwver that means. cause they are all so busy. what happens if you dont make the 4 parties in 2 weeks? and i didnt realise there were weekly meetings.. that would be hard cause i have 2 kids too.
Hollo I started and didn't last long at all. Weekly meetings (and at first weekly training sessions) were just a pain to get to (they started at 7:30pm and usually finished around 9:30ish!) not to mention getting parties is ust a disaster if you don't have many family/friends willing to hold parties.
If you don't hold enough parties in the first few weeks to cover your kit, you just pay it out of pocket yourself if you don't continue or if you do continue every party just goes straight to your kit IYKWIM?
You don't HAVE to attend weekly sales meetings, but you do have to do the training. I usually just go for release night when they release the new monthly preview book, and unit meet which is at the manager's house.
Selling parties means you do a party for someone else, but they still get 10% of the commission. However if you date any parties there you get to keep them yourself.
I am a manager and i dont expect any of my girls to travel 2 hours to our nearest sales meeting every week. i do like them to come to a unit meeting once a month, we do these at night because that suits my girls best.
i dont tell everyone that i think they would be good... i know that we are ment to encourage people but i still believe that honesty is the best policy
i only joined last year to see if i liked it and i have never looked back... if i was you i would go for it... really you have nothing to loose!!
thanks everyone. i have joined up. went to first meeting in monday and am now in the process of booking my first few parties. hope it goes ok! i'm not really a public speaker so will be very nervous when it comes time to demonstrate.
