    Baby Sneezed On

    Hi,

Some stupid person sneezed on my 7 week old baby today at the shops while peering in at her in her stroller!! If she was going to get sick, how long would it take for her to start showing symptoms?

    Thanks

In my experience if my DD is ever around anyone with a snotty nose, if she is going to pick up their bug she'll have it in 24-48 hours.

It may have been just a tickly sneeze as opposed to a germy sneeze...I hope it was!

If you haven't got any baby nasal saline drops and a nasal aspirator (aka snot sucker) in the cupboard (and baby Panadol), maybe get some just in case.

I never had to use the drops or aspirator with DS and wound up chucking out his drops because they expired, but DD seems to pick up everything going around and when she was tiny she was very prone to nasal congestion anyway so it has been great for us to have these items hanging around ready to go. Nothing worse than trying to soothe a baby who has woken up in the night because she suddenly can't breathe (or feed properly) and not having the gear to help her.

Fess Little Noses is the most commonly available brand but the chemist will know what you're on about, it's just over the counter. Otrivin is another good brand and I found their nasal aspirator more effective at getting the gunk out of DD's nose.
