    Puberty starting?

    Hi all,
I am just after some advice, opinions and a bit of comfort.

My DD will be 11 this year. The last month she has just started to get little boobs. This week she has been teary, very teary and has had no patience for her brothers at all.
I sat down and had a bit of a talk to her this morning about how she was feeling. She became quite upset and told me she felt weird. She said she couldn't help crying and didn't know why, she also felt a little angry. She then said her tummy felt a bit funny. She told me she had been having a tummy ache and cramps and she just didn't feel right.
This week she has also gotten her first little pimple.

So i said to her i think her body is getting ready for her to have her period and she is changing from a little girl into a teenager. She was quite pleased with this.
Does it sound right , she does not have any pubic hair and this is the first time she has ever been like this.

    Thanks for reading this

Sounds like you could be right
Glad she had some warning (kind of). I didn't. Not sure about the pubic hair thing, but I knew alot of people who hit that stage between 10 & 12. I was 12. A cousin of mine first got AF at 8!

it does def sounds like hormone changes in the making. Not all kids experience everything in the same order (I had a GF who didn't get underarm hair till couple of years after AF started) so the lack of hair might not mean other things aren't happenning. Also, perhaps TMI for some, but apparently with most girls a few months before menarche starts they start getting the increased woman's discharge that comes with puberty, so if you've noticed that doing the washing then menarche could be just around the corner. In any case, keep an eye on her moods just to make sure they're not prolonged, because depression is more and more common among young ones these days. (Glad she's so open with you and happy about becoming a woman, I was DREADING it and hid AF from my mother at 12 for 5 months, can't for the life of me figure out why now)

Yep I got AF at 10 or 11 and remember going through the whole crying, weird and angry feelings too. I broke down in a shopping centre once and had no idea why...shame shame shame!

    Thanks ladies,

It has really hit me that our little girl is growing up.
My DD and I have a very close relationship, her dad left when she was one and has no contact with her at all. My Dh is fantastic with her and according to him and her he is her Dad and they both have a great relationship too.

Its kinda scary, i hope to be able to deal with it the right way and just be there for her. Oh its all new. Funny having a toddler and now a pre teenager.

My dd is 10 and sounds just like yours Tan. My 12 yo DS is also quite hormonal......It's quite sad to see them changing from children to teens isn't it?
