Ok - DD only likes to eat sweet foods. She started out eating savory, but got constipated, so I fed her pears for 2 days, and now she onloy likes sweet foods.
On the recommendation of MCHN, I have been "buttering" toast with veggies. She "Sort of " tries it.
She HATES ALL meat (might be the texture) but I can get her to eat it if we do 1 mouthful of yogurt, then 1 mouthful of meat (or veggies) , as well as having some for her to do as BLS.
I think it's supposed to take something like 10 times for you to introduce and new food before babies get used to the taste. I think if you just keep on introducing a variety of things she will get used to it. Try not to worry about it and just let her lead you. She won't starve herself!!
TBH, I wouldn't be too stressed about it. Babies are designed to prefer sweet foods. And remember that 'food is fun until they're one!'. Her milk is the most nutritionally important food at the moment.
If you like, you could mix some apple or pear with her vegies, some mums find that helps their bubs to eat more veg. It certainly helped us with introducing vegies. And gosh, my DS didn't eat meat for months and months. He does eat it now though, so I'm glad I didn't worry about it. You could give her a cutlet bone to suck and chew on, that might be a fun way to help her get used to the taste.
Hun, there really is no 'wrong thing', just what you think is best for your baby. But, it's always handy to get different tips, and reassurance that yours is not the only baby like this! FWIW, your DD sounds perfectly normal to me! As long as you offer a range of healthy family foods, and limit the stress around mealtimes, you will likely find she turns out to be a good eater .
I never gave DS meat until he was 9 mnths. DS went through a stage where he didn't like pumpkin, sweet potato and potato - I think it was a texture thing as we have never given him mush. I would give him a taste at every meal and now he eats them.
The biggest thing I didn't want was meals a battle ground so I give him a taste if he spits it at me (like he often would ) we would move to the next vege/fruit. I always leave his favourite until almost last otherwise he won't eat anything else.
I agree with the others at DD's age (she is only 7mnths?) I would worry too much, keep offering and food really is fun until they are 1
nai - that's what I have been doing!
She LOVES eating fruit and will lean forward for more (same with yogurt) bu everything else she spits.
Tonight she had apple, sweetcorn and pumpkin and ate it!
ETA - i am not really worried as she is young, it is just more annoying than anything. J would tank down 3 meals a day at the same age. But in saying that, her weight and height is what J was at 4 months!
