    accidental xray exposure during pregnancy

HI, im 38 weeks pregnant. today i was visiting my mum in the ICU and the patient in the bed next to her was xrayed, which i didnt realise until i heard the machine go off. obviously i wasnt standing directly next to the machine, it was probably about 2 metres away. since then ive been worried has my bub been exposed to radiation and should i be worried? anyone got any idea?

    Hi Melbrodhi
Your baby will be fine. Those mobile X-Ray machines are somewhat low power and are quite directional. Also at 38 weeks your baby is fully formed.

What Alan said I seem to remember from our radiology safety presentation at work that you would need to be directly exposed to hundreds of direct x-rays to have any harmful effect?

BTW, I hope your mum gets well soon.

Ditto to what everyone else said.

Don't worry hun, we are actually exposed to low radiation in lots of different situations, that we aren't even aware of.
