    Kit Homes???

DH and I are looking into the option of building a kit home but we have no idea about the extra cost involved in things such as electricity, plumbing, labour etc.

Can anyone give me a ball park figure of the extra costs involved in kit homes? Are they worth the money???

    TIA

Mum and dad built one as their holiday house about 20 years ago so I can ask dad if you like although the costs would be out of date.

This is one of the options we are looking into as well..

Ask them if they do a complete build? which means you walk in and its all done..

My FIL said after you buy the kit all the rest that is not on the inclusions list is very exxy

    Good luck with it all..

    Thanks for you replies.
The one we like is a 4br that looks great but land around here is exe so don't want to pay a fortune for the kit.
There is also the stress involved in building. If you have built before would you do it again?

If you are going to do it yourself it can be cheap, (as in you get the trades people to do it) or if you have mates who will do stuff for cash, but otherwise we looked into it, and for a complete finish it worked out not much more expensive to get a 'real' house built. We have had friends and they had trouble getting tradesmen to do it, and they would be due to start at 8am and never turn up. In saying that, look around, call different companies, get inclusion litst. It may be different now because kit homes are more popular, about 8yrs ago it was about $30k to get a 14sq house built ready to move in, how things change!
