    2 year old funny habit....

My 2 year old DS has a funny habit that i have only just noticed in the past couple of days...

I will try and explain the best i can...

DS and I were putting blocks back into the shape sorter and i noticed everytime i would give him a block he would look at the shape sorter then he would say "ummmmm" and shake his head at the same time.
He did this everytime i gave him a new block.

He seems to do it when i ask him a question and its always the same thing "ummmmm" and shakes head at the same time....

Is that normal? or just one of those funny little things that kids do??

I would say one of those funny little things. I noticed recently Oskar (also 2) started saying ummmm a lot too. I wouldn't worry

Do you do it, or something similar? or anyone else that he could be copying?

Maybe it helps him think? Just trying to imagine what those actions do for him - and all I can come up with is that it helps him concentrate by blocking out other distractions??

I was thinking about this some more and maybe he's answering his own questions in his mind.. so asking himself and saying ummmmmm no? I still wouldn't be concerned though as most people have little quirks with thinking etc... some more common than others - eg. sticking out the tongue etc.
