    Question Question about wisdom teeth...

Mmk. I am pretty sure I have cut two wisdom teeth on each side of my mouth on the bottom... they have been around for about 2-3 months now. I am avoiding going to the dentist as we seriously don't have the money to spare. I am worried if I go to the dentist I will have to get filings elsewhere on top of having to get my wisdom teeth out too and end up being super broke!!!I am in a bit of pain, not massive amounts but enough to be annoying! It's achey and It feels like they are pushing on the rest of my teeth.

I am wondering how much longer I have until i'll have to do something about it? Should I wait until the pain is worse or nip it in the bud? (assuming we will be able to afford it... might have to save up & wait anyway)

Also anyone that's had them out how much does it cost roughly? (We do have private health cover does that make a difference?)

    Thanks in advance

ive had 2 out. If it hurts now.. it will get worse. N nothing helps the pain. I was in so much pain. And all it was, was them pushing on my other teeth. Im on a HCC so on the public system it never costs me anymore than $25. Not sure about Private sorry.

I put up with my wisdom teeth for few years before I actually did anything, just got to apoint where I'd had enough and pain was getting worse.
Prices vary, depending on how many you need out, if they do it in the chair or under GA.
I had 4 out and as they were impacted had to have them out under GA, cost me $1500 out of pocket, my private health didn't cover all that much of the surgeons fees plus even tho it was just a day procedure my health fund charged me our $500 excess we have to pay for hospital stays. So depending on your health fund that will vary too.
I'd suggest go to your dentist see what they say, have x-rays done and then decide if you can afford now or not, if you can't get it done in the chair you'll have to go to see a surgeon, so maybe see what your dentist says first.

Thanks I think I will have to go to the dentist and see what they think... see how bad they are and how much it would cost... I might call private health to and see if they can shed some light on how much they would cover me for. Just not looking forward to how much the dentist costs in the first place! sooo over everything being so expensive!

depends on your PHI. Give them a call and ask.

I am fully covered, but just avoiding getting it done cause it will hurt Mine aren't causing me any pain, but they are there and decaying.

Get your dentist to give you item numbers of what needs to be done so when you call your health insurance you just quote the numbers to them and they give you the rebate $$$

XDH was quoted $1200 and we got about $500 back I think. Depends on PHI though. Then we had anesthetics on top of that because he had to have a GA.

Hun, go and get them checked and see what the situation is. And remember, just because you don't go to the dentist doesn't mean there are no fillings needed just that you don't know about them. Yes, the dentist can be very expensive, but I'll give you a tip - the longer you leave dental problems, the more expensive they get. Go now, work out a plan, and you never know, things might not be as bad as you think .
