I love how kids can brighten someone's day

Before DS was born, I never really knew how much babies & kids can attract the attention of almost every random person you pass in the street.

These days, it still never ceases to amaze me how much attention DS gets when we head out. Today, it was the receptionists at the GP, and the nurses. And then as we're zooming through the local shops, popping in and out here and there, it was the check out lady at the chemist, the woman behind the counter at Bakers Delight and the people in the car part that stare and then smile, and then come up and talk to you (or DS more to the point!) I always smile back, and try and be approachable if they want to come and have a chat.

People are always peeking into the pram or the sling when we're out. They have a little chat to DS, almost 100% of them say "look at his hair!" (he has spiky hair and lots of it). And they always laugh and smile. And I think to myself, if we've in some small way helped to put a smile on someone's face or brightened their day, then that's so nice. You never know what people are going through in their day to day lives and maybe in some way we can make a small difference.

Just wanted to share that today.

It's amazing isnt it? DD always attracts attention because she is soo little but walks on her own in the supermarket (she looks like she is 8mths old or something).

Nearly all those that pass her smiles and says how cute, although alot of people go how cute is that little boy, even when DD is all dressed in pink!

It makes me smile too =)

I know what you mean!

I get so angry when mothers are rude to people when they try to say hello to their children. We are so lucky to get to have baby chats and cuddles whenever we need - but there are so many people who are lonely and just benefit from a little chat.

It makes me feel so happy when I see the light that our kids put into the eyes of my friends and family, and even complete strangers.

It's lovely isn't it! Just about every time we head out somewhere, someone approaches us. I was told the other week by an older woman that she was watching me have lunch with my toddler and newborn and that I was a good mother in the way I was interacting with them. Was so nice to get random positive feedback.

She also said our generation was amazing heading out with our young babies and how good we look post birth.

You're right... and it's a lot sometimes lol. I do remember a while back a lady actually thanked me for letting her talk to Elijah and that it had really made her day. I then made a mental note to try not to be so annoyed by it when it happens a lot lol.

It is wonderful isnt it. My favourite was when I had DD in the pram and it was a cold, windy day and we were waiting at a set of lights to cross the road. This old man (probably retirement home age) was next to me and said, how gorgeous DD was and he was talking to her saying how he would love to trade places with her, to be all rugged up in there and ahve the whole world ahead of you. So true I thought. He kept telling me how proud I should be and it did make me feel good.

My other fav is when other kids (mainly toddlers) say to their mums, look there's a baby! Its so cute! PMSL because they are also still tiny and I think they are so cute!

I know its too cute isn't it. We get lots of that too.

Tinsel I'm amazed at how many people have said to me "oh, you're doing so well getting out and about so much with a new baby." For me personally I don't find it difficult at all, and I would go nuts if I didn't get out but maybe it just wasn't the done thing in previous generations.

While having a long wait at Medicare a few months back, DD befriended an old lady (late 70's), and DD insisted on a cuddle before she left.. The lady thought that was wonderful cause her grandkids don't live nearby.

Not sure if DD was pulling faces or what today but I had lots of smiles as I strolled through the shopping mall..

Oh I love the toddlers too. Oskar always wants to hold babies..lol. Pity he couldn't be more like that with Elijah ALL the time.

Heather that reminds me one day Oskar was chatting to an old lady and he was saying is that Nanna... and I said no and she said I am someone's Nanna though. When we were leaving he waves, blows a kiss and said, Bye Nanna...lol. She just loved it.

I have to agree. My almost three year old is also small and looks more like a 1 year old. She gets so much attention when we are out and about.

I once walked out of the suppermarket with her and a elderly lady stopped and had a chat with her. Afterwards she stood up and told me that I have a pretty daughter and that she lost her daughter at roughly dd's age. It made me sad, but also made me feel good that dd were so chatty with her.

And the other way around too. Me and DH has a kid-free date once a month and I can't stop looking at all the parents out with their kids and toddlers, say to DH: "Awww, look there" " Awww, sweet"

Heheh I find this to be true too and everywhere i go all i do is talk about DD! Actually I'm starting to think if I didnt have DD to talk about my world would be silent!
