A friend & I started walking & pilates 2 weeks ago. Most of the pilates has been floor stuff, but 2 days ago we did a 20 minute fat blasting work out. Alot of jumping around baisically.
Anyway, I was expecting my muscles to hurt, they are pretty good now, but my joints! Ow! My knuckles, wrists, hips & ankles all ache bad. My lower back is killing me too.
Why? My hips & ankles fair enough...even my back I kinda understand, it can't take much, but my fingers & wrists? There's not much they really need to get used to? No spirit fingers!
Could it just be as simple as not enough water or something? OMG even my toes ache!
Is this normal? I'm getting up & walking around like an 80 year old man!
Are you by any chance still breastfeeding? Or recently stopped? I hurt my back after baby no.4 and my Physio told me that just like when we are pregnant and our joints are all lax and floppy, breastfeeding stops the body tightening these joints and to a certain degree they remain lax whilst breastfeeding.
It shows how important it is to take good care of ourselves and not to overdo it. It also helps explain why so many mums have continuing back pain after birth.
There wasnt much that she could do for though, and I would have to suggest that if the pain continues to go and see a physio. You could try hot compresses/wheat bags or even a hot bath?

I was off last week. All my glands were swollen & I was pretty stuffed, but I think I was just way too run down. My dad had/has ross river & I'm nothing like he was. He has q fever as well though
I am still breast feeding my 19 month old son, so that does make sence. It is the reason my pelvis isn't quite right yet, so I know to be careful of that, but didn't think about the rest of me being affected from it.
Oh well, I'm upping the water intake anyway & will take it a bit easier. Damn it sux when you finally get the motivation to get fit & something holds you back that little bit. Its something my heads gonna tell me to ignore til the next day when I can't move. I've had the last 3 days off coz I've been too sore. Maybe we'll just do that one 2 - 3 times a week.
