okay i'm organising a surprise for my mum and aunty to attend an event at the Sydney Football Stadium in Feb next year.... except i'm stuck with where to book accommodation.... i've been to sydney before but still don't really know where the SFS is in relation to anything else... they have also been to sydney, presumably staying in the city or darling harbour, so am thinking about perhaps some other areas for something different... however i know nothing about paddington or darlinghurst (which is where i picked out just from looking at a map).... are there things to do in these areas or close by that would suit two fit and healthy 65ish year old women??
not sure what they will get up to, maybe just some shopping, sight seeing, lunch, dinner etc.... certainly don't need any uber trendy nightclubs or things like that, haha.
can anyone suggest some areas or hotels that would be handy to the SFS, but still handy to other attractions too? or should i just stick with booking something in the cbd?
i have no clue so need all the help i can get, thanking you in advance
It's easy to get from the CBD to the football stadium.
If they would like somewhere a bit quieter and more residential Paddington is close to the Stadium and it's got lots of shopping and eating. It's probably a bit more expensive than the CBD but they can get into town easily - there are oodles of buses along Oxford St to the city and they could hop on and off the bus in Darlinghurst too. Bondi Junction is on the other side of Paddington if they want to catch a bus in the other direction and it has lots of shopping too. If they stay on the bus they'll end up at one of the beaches.
