Unhappy When you have a cold, how long are you sick for??

I have had some sort of cold/flu bug for 2 weeks now. Feel okay but still coughing at night. Not sure if it is the same bug or a different one but I hate being sick (as everyone does).

I would just like to know, if I am the only one that bugs just seem to lag on with.

So when you are sick with a cold/flu bug, what is the duration for you?

Around 4-5 days usually. But I'm asthmatic and I often get a respiratory/chest/ear infection from a cold, so that strings things out a bit longer, maybe around two weeks. It might be worth getting checked out to make sure you haven't got an infection of some sort.

I am usually acutely sick for about 2-4 days (like, feeling miserable sick), then start to feel better. But my cough always goes on and on- that horrible tickly throat cough, for weeks! I remember seeing the dr about it once and they said its pretty normal for a cough to linger and this seems to be common among other people I know as well. If that helps!

I have a cold for about 2-3 days. I have only had a really bad flu where i was sick as a dog for like 2 weeks. I had a sinus infection, chest infection basically the works! But when i feel a cold coming on thats when i drink lots of water take panadol and if im feeling awful ill take cold & flu tablets but usually water, panadol and rest does me good!

    Have you seen your doctor?

Take care hope you feel better soon

pre kids I'd be over it quick, post kids depending on how run down I am can last like you said 2 weeks or so.
Coughs I always find persist with me even when cold is better.
I reakon I get sick so much more often and for longer after having the girls. Rarely got sick prior.

I've just gotten over an awful one that laid me up for about 4 days of feeling totally cruddy, then another week on top of that with the snots and coughs (charming hey lol) so almost 2 weeks I guess.

Most don't linger that long though.

Usually about 2-3 days of feeling really crappy. DH on the other hand seems to get sick and it seems to last weeks. (or maybe it just feels like weeks the way he carries on about it!)

A cold usually hangs around for 3-4 days, but I have a lingering cough that can take up to 3 months to go away. I'm a smoker, and have been prone to respiratory/sinus/throat infections since childhood (I was asthmatic until my late teens) so usually when I get a cold it turns into a chest infection, if it doesn't I still have a nasty cough.

Maybe pop into your GP to get it checked out and make sure it's nothing that needs antibiotics to get rid of?? Hope you feel better soon
