Well, over the past 7 weeks I have lost approx 9.2kg. which is great but I still have nearly 30kg to go to get to where I want to be.
I am already noticing a difference in size (lost 36cm so far) but the 'side effects' are NOT nice. I am now all soft and squidgy and its only going to get worse!! I dont do any extra exercise - only my usual tennis games 3 days a week - and to be honest I dont really want to just yet. I think I would lose too much weight if I threw in a extra couple of cardio a week - although I will when the weight loss slows down. I am breastfeeding so I dont want too quick weight loss.
Apart from surgery - what kind of toning things can you suggest? My DH has already offered to get me a boob job and tummy tuck if I lose all the weight - but I am really not keen on that at all at the moment .... we'll see when the time comes.
Please help - the thought of heaps of 'saggy extra' skin is freakin' me out!!!
I saw a lady on the telly the other day who had lost nearly 50 kg. She was asked about the extra skin and said she had managed to tone most of it off with pilates, but at the very end she opted to have a tummy tuck (because she had a bit of an overhang flap - basically it just removed the excess skin) and her gift to herself was a breast lift.
hi allisd. congrats on losing the weight! and hang in there.
You may need to include toning workouts ie light weights, sit ups, lunges that sort of thing. Cardio works your heart, lungs etc and burns the fat whereas the low impact stuff works deep in your muscles. and can be easily done from home, and only take 15 mins once a day.
But the skin will also firm up a bit as time goes by, but it may take awhile so i would personally wait a year after i'd lost all the weight and then see how i feel about more drastic measures such as surgery. you may find you won't need it by then. your' body needs to adjust that's all.
I lost 30kg a few years ago and it really didn't take too long to tone up, i can't remember how long tho?
Grub17 - Wow you did really well with losing all that weight. Have you kept it off? I am worried that because it has been so easy so far - I will put it all back on.
I have heard of pilates but will have to do some googling as I dont really know what it is.
LSK - I am doing weight watchers - online. I wish I could make meetings as it helps to have some support of people around who are also losing weight but I live in the middle of nowhere so I do it online.
Can you get Pilates on DVD? Can anoyone reccomend some good ones if you can?
yep its been five years now (well before i got preg lol, these 9 months don't count).
i rediscovered my passion for exercise, in particular running and can not wait for my first run post baby! already have the pram lol.
you will find that you will plateau from time to time but don't be put off. a lot of the first lot of loss is fluid and you will probably find that soon it will seem to be going nowhere. all that means is you just need to drop your KJ intake for the day and up your exercise a bit to keep progressing.
remember, engery in, energy out! I did the first 10kg with Jenny Craig and the last 20kg by myself and had fantastic support from my DH. His support was vital to my success. It has truly changed our lives. (i went from size 18/20 to size 10/12 and last year ran my first 10km road race... sorry you gotta gloat hey!).
you can get pilates videos online and from sports stores or even big dub. i can't recommend one as i don't use them. But one of my friend does classes after work and loves it! she's a recent convert. i realise you are in the middle of nowhere, perhaps you can enrol in a weekend class to get the idea tho?
good luck. feel free to pm me if you need any cheerleading from the sidelines
