    is this normal? worried...

my dd is 7 months now and she always clicks her jaw...like it looks like when we-adults try to click our jaw. normally she is fine when she opens and closes her mouth. But it seems kinda like a habit, like when i talk to her or something she will smile and then open her mouth and try to sort of click her jaw and you can sort of see the jaw bone thing near her ear sort of go clonk as she closes her jaw....asked the gp he said its fine, but not sure if he knew what i was really talking about. Anyone had the same problem?

I did this CONSTANTLY as a child and early teen to the point where I would dislocate my jaw.

As long as it isn't causing her pain or getting stuck (and mine would after dislocation and I couldn't open my mouth!) then she will be fine.

I grew out of it and can't click my jaw anymore.

My little girl did that for a bit too! I didn't think anything of it because it wasn't hurting her. I didn't react to it at all and she stopped after about a week I think. She hasn't done it since either. not sure if that helps but maybe some kids just do it for a reaction or because it feels funny. I wouldn't worry unless it seems that she has a problem with opening and closing her mouth or you think that it could be causing a problem :-)
