What Widlife Have You Had To Evict From Your Home?

If anyone had been walking past our place this morning at 5am they would have seen the lights on the veranda go on, the door open, then minutes later a very annoyed looking me evicting a possum from the house!

10 mins prior DH woke me to say that there was something in the wardrobe. I didn't care (because I had already been woken 3 times that night by the boys) but he turned on the light and opened the wardrobe door. A possum was sitting above my dresses blinking at us. DH has a history of being a bit intimidated by possums... i knew as soon as I saw it I would have to deal with it. Yes, all very cute, but not at 5am!

ETA: if a Mod reads this could they please fix the typo in the title to: Wild-Life. Thanks

OMG, so sorry Bath but i've gotta let out a loud laugh here at the thought of maybe the possum is a cross dresser trying on one of your dresses

... Last month we went insane for a couple of days as a possum took up residency in our roof, it was having a fab time banging & crashing ... seriously sounded loud enough like the body weight of man up there ... it would start partying the moment we went to bed, augh

Finally the plumber came out to fix some piping & the possum was gone so the plumber double sided the planks under the eves so the possum couldn't get back in

(My sister came home late one night after work & found a possum sitting on top of her free-standing wardrobe & it then jumped off & backed her into a corner of the bedroom hissing at her, she freaked out about possums after that ... and we won't mention the pee from the possum she had to clean up in her bedroom.)

Yes they do thump around up there... our house is Possum Central. It's quite an old house with about 100 points of entry and the owner is not interested in make it secure. It's one of the many things we have to put up with to live in a big house in a nice area. The owners don't mind us having pets either... you gotta take the good with the bad I guess. I have a chicken at my feet as I type too... it's like Noah's Ark around here!

A few years ago when we were working in the hospital system, I was on a morning shift and my wife was on afternoon. She came to work and asked my if when I go home would I take the washing out of the machine and put it on the line. She also mentioned that I would probably need to move the brown snake that was curled up in front of the machine first. So after arriving home I walk into the laundry with a spade but the snake was gone. I hung out the washing then sat down with a coffee. Suddenly a thought hits me....... If the snake is not in the laundry where is it? Occasionally we would see the snake in the paddock but thankfully it never returned to the house.

AJP: Just as well a certain dentist we know wasn't doing an early morning jog (only lives a few doors up)... I wasn't a very presentable sight! Hair in pigtails sticking out everywhere in DH's oldest and daggiest T-shirt!

When I was at school I woke up one night with my headmistress (who was normally a very elegant, stylish woman) on my bed gibbering. She was doing a late check to make sure everything was ok before she went to bed when she was startled by a possum and leapt onto the nearest bed for safety lol.
My horse used to get into the garden pretty often - she had a thing for eating Mum's roses.

Nothing exciting around here apart from the odd bird flying inside. We have a big sliding door that is open all day when we are home so the dog can come and go as she pleases. We used to have a ****atiel so quite often other birds would come inside to help eat our ****atiels seed.

Been at my friends place when trying to evict a brown snake. I let the snake inside *ooops* 2 hrs later the snake catcher finally arrived.

Years ago ( I was about 14) got up to toilet around 7am and went and woke mum up as there was a bat on the wall in hallway.

Also had a few birds fly inside over the years.

    LOL Bath!

We've only had birds and bats that the cat brought in to evict. Although we did have a possum trapped in between our walls one night. It was making a screaming sound and bashing itself in between the walls. I had no idea what to do, luckily after a while it got itself free.
