Advice for Packing / Plane flight with 6 month DS

We are going to the Gold Coast for 7 days and taking DS (6 months) on a plane for the first time (3 hr flight). My list of things to take seems way excessive!! I feel like I am going to be taking the whole house with us!!

Any tips from seasoned travellers with babies re what to take and how to make it go as smooth as possible and or tips for on the plane flight would be most appreciated. Also - what did you take that was a total waste of time - I need to cull my packing as much as possible!

We are staying in an apartment with kitchen/laundry so I can wash clothes etc and buy food etc at the supermarket when we arrive

    Thanks heaps
    Naomi

if your FF, make sure you pack a bit extra just in case your flight is delayed once you get to the airport...you don't want to run out while waiting in the airport

Pack enough nappies to get you through till the other end as you can buy them there... save heaps of room while packing.

We just flew with DD, 6mo, to Europe. You'll be fine...

For the flight, take a couple of changes of clothes for him, and a change of shirt for you if he's remotely likely to spew on you (like my DD). Take a couple of new toys (try a $2 shop for cheapies that you can chuck out later if they're awful) for distraction purposes.

Time his feeds to be feeding him on the descent. It's a bit tricky because you will also have to have him strapped in with the seatbelt. But that is when their ears get sore, so if you can get him swallowing, he will relieve the pressure and not get upset with painful ears.

Hope it goes smoothly. We've now flown with our DD from Melbourne to Newcastle and from Melbourne to Europe, and it was totally fine on all occasions. Planes mostly make her sleepy.
