DD has not ben well over the weekend - she was running a temp on and off and off her food and bottles, I thought it was teething as she is getting her eye teeth atm.
This morning I got her up to give her her bottle and she vomited up bright yellow bile, so I put her in the car and took her staight to the Emergency Dept. They ran some tests and it apprears that she has a UTI - she is now on antibiotics so I hop ethey kick in ASAP.
She is asleep now but still has a temp and will only have a suck on her sippy cup with water. I have given her a few luke warm baths to try and break the temp but she is still all shakey and just so sick and miserable.
I am so very worried about her - I wish she would eat and drink!
Has anyone elses little ones had a UTI?? Did they recover fast??
I've never had one, but I know they can be very painful. Poor baby. Did they suggest giving her lots of water to try to flush her kidneys? My sister gets them all the time & thats what she does.
oh hun, thats so horrible. DD had one when she was only 10 weeks old. we were in hospital for 4 days, cant really give you advice re food etc cause DD was so young and only on the boob, which she was off while sick. had a drip for fluids. she couldnt even keep panadol down for the pain. When it happened to us, the night before she started to get better she had the highest fever, over 40, the next morning she started to go back to her old self and we were home the next day. All i remember thinking was thank god we are in hospital. They will fix her, once the meds kick in she will be right! I have a history of them from when i was a teenager so they had to do a scan on DD to make sure that it wasnt something that was linked to mine or going to happen often but that was just a precausion, big hugs to you both!
My little boy had an UTI at 5 weeks...he was hospitalised overnight with a drip and then we went home with some antibiotics...he recovered really quickly...and has had no problems since!
Just keep watching her fluid intake...she needs to be having something to drink even if it's fairly regular sips from her sippy cup...and remember, if you're worried, head back to emergency again (or ring something like Health Direct)...
I got some anti b's into her beefore she had a sleep and now she is up and she had a whole bottle (240mls most she has drank for 3 days!!) and also a small tub of baby yogurt! She has also had a few swigs of her water so she is looking a lot better!
More anti b's soon and more sleep ( for mum too!!) and we will see how she goes!
big hugs for your little girl
I know exactly how she feels, i was seeing a specialist for 4 years trying to control mine - was a very horrible experience!
For your little girl, the only thing i can really think of is cranberry juice and lots of it!! It has some natural antioxidant in it that helps aid in the cure, and also helps prevent UTI's. It tastes pretty nasty, quite dry like a white wine.. but its good stuff!
I hope the medicine kicks in soon, poor little sausage xxx
