These are the questions ive gotlol

    - How do you make black food colouring or can you get it?
    - ive bought a few types of icing not sure what i need ( i want it smooth and firm IYKWIM)

Ive seent the cake you want to make...mammoth task!! But not insurmountable

Have you got a cake decorating shop near you? Or a specialty food shop? You can get powdered food dyes, which are fabulous, you can get black. You cant get them at the supermarket.

Make is a few days in advance (the cake) and put it in the freezer. When it is quite solid, cut it with a sharp serated knife - it is waaaay easier to cut when it is half frozen

You want to use icing like on a wedding cake don't you? Go into your local cake shop and ask them if they do bulk fondant - they should, most do, and you can colour it and roll it yourself. You can make fondant yourself, but it is a PITA if you can just buy it from a bakery.

    Have fun!!

You can use Royal Icing...it is hard and glossy but will probably crack when you cut it...

I will find you a recipe

    ETA:
    Royal Icing

    Ingerdients
    4 cups icing sugar
2 large egg whites, lightly beaten
5 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

Combine ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. Whisk on medium speed, stopping to scrape down the bowl, until glossy and stiff, about 5 minutes.

(If not using immediately, place a piece of waxed paper on the surface, cover in plastic wrap, and refrigerate until ready to use. Stir before using.)

You really want to use this straight away. Avoid storing it if you can.
This is fabulous for piping too - so writing on the cake or decorating it.

*****Keep in mind that this is made from RAW egg, so don't ge giving it to preggy women
