    What do you use....

    To clean your washing machine?

We have a top loader and i normally do a full extra dirty HOT cycle with WHITE VINEGAR?

I find as we do a LOT of very dirty washing (DP's a carpenter and also LOVES riding the go-karts and motorbikes in the mud ) our machine gets filthy very quickly.
Also it seems the washing liquid we use collects in the little filter thing in the middle and sometimes i get like stains on some of our clothes!

I use color catchers for DD's clothes to save on doing small loads for her and her clothes GENERALLY come out fine but my darks etc always seems to get white powdery marks on them even though i use liquid... WTF?

Any tips would be great, wanna save my washing.. :-)

Vinegar wash is on as we speak, what else can i try?

I wanna know too! DH works in a mine... and comes home covered in red mud. I do not fancy my nice white linen being orange!

Well....according to my "Spotless" book by Shannon Lush and Jennifer Fleming add 1/2 cup of bicarb to hot washing water and then add 1/2 c vinegar to the rinse water.

We have a crappy top loader stored at a friend's place for new house just to wash DP's uniform. He also cops red soil from the mines. Going to get a lovely front loader for the normal clothes/nappies. Top loaders for general use kill my back.

How much vinegar do you use in a machine wash? Read 2 cups on a hot wash filled to high. Can imagine would smell like a fish and chip shop. I should do that before I head to Melb actually so it's clean for DP's bond clean. I had to use diluted degreaser in the landlord's to get rid of the motor oil that was spilt on DP's uniform at work. Had to do a few until it pumped clear. I also service my outlet hose and flush it because the mineral build up/soap build up in the ridges is disgusting and catches fluff so i take it outside and flush it with the hose. Service the powder draw once a fortnight too because gets yukky. Never done a vinegar wash tho but I should, a bit smelly in there from old powder.

Oooo, had a total mental blank earlier post so that's why I'm reposting
