Smile One of my favourite tips!

This comes from a lady who facilitates a great program run by the CFA every January open for application by members (20 senior members and 20 junior members from across the state) for personal and leadership development. I get the emailed monthly 'Performance Tips' and thought I'd share this one with you:

    Performance Tip
Do you remember what you were worrying about one year ago today? Unless it is a significant anniversary, most of us would struggle to consciously recall where we were and what we were doing one year ago today, let alone what we were worrying about. We know that worry doesn?t serve us. We know it cause health problems. We even know that a large percentage of what we worry about never occurs anyway. So why worry?

We know that the unconscious mind does not know the difference between imagination and reality. So if we worry about something, the mind directs the body to go into ?fight or flight? mode in order to keep us safe. It gives the body the exact physical symptoms it would experience if we were actually going through the thing we?re worrying about!

So why not use the way the mind naturally works to release worry in your life right now. (This is called an Anxiety Remover and it?s a popular NLP technique.) Bring to mind something you've been worrying about.
Imagine what you want to have happen instead of the thing you were worrying about. If you were worrying about paying a bill, then imagine it paid. If you were worrying about someone you love getting sick or having an accident, then imagine them safe and happy. If you were worrying around how much weight you?ve put on in the last year, then see and feel yourself happy with your ideal body shape.

Take yourself out into your future to at least one hour after the successful completion of that event; so the bill is paid, your loved ones are fine, you?re happy with your body. Check in from there and ask yourself, ?Where?s the worry? Is it there or is it gone now??

Then ask yourself, ?What?s there instead?? Peace? Happiness? Joy? Bring that back with you and hold it in your body for as long as you want. Maybe all day. Or all week. Or even for the rest of your life?
    No worries. That?s right.

    Have a happy week!
    Carol

Excellent ip Maya One advantage of getting older I think is that you make it through so many crisises that there comes a point where you learn that most things DO pass... and that in a year's time you won't be able to remember the worry of today... just like Carol said. It is true.
