A bit of a silly question....

    Hi all,
I've just realised that whenever I tell people that I plan on VBAC-ing, I always put emphasis on *trying*... as in "I am going to *try* for a VBAC"

Do you think this kind of thinking is counterproductive? Would it be more beneficial to be certain that I am going to succeed, or is better to have some kind of realistic understanding that I am just "trying" and there is a possibility it won't happen.

    Just a random question

I always said "I am going to have a VBAC" but it my mind I knew that there was always the possibility, like with any labour, that things might go wrong & I would end up with another c/s. You need to be positive hun, YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A VBAC, but also realistic that maybe it won't happen and that's ok too

:yeahthat: I always said " we are having a VBAC" very firmly, but like Sarah I knew there was the possibility that things might not go to plan.

I think for me it is more about the fact that every labour has the potential to end in CS, I don't see why a VBAC should be looked at any differently, IYKWIM.
Women who are having their first baby don't say "I am trying for a vaginal birth"

But it's an easy trap to fall into, especially with so many health care workers using the 'trying' word, or 'attempting'.

don't worry about it too much, Sarah's advice is good advice! be positive about your VBAC but keep in mind that just like any other labour it might not go to plan

    Good luck!
