    Wink Selling your gold!

A booth has popped up in my local shopping centre that buys gold. I have a few broken necklaces, odd earrings and rings from boyfriends past that is sitting in my jewelry box that I thought I might trade in.

Anyone done it and is it worth it? I'm not expecting to make much but if they'd only offer me $10 I'd not bother and hoard it till the day I die jic

A shop in our mall was advertising this & I thought the same thing, take in this stuff & see what I could get. I've been given odd pieces of gold things & I don't wear gold. Anywho, wasnt worth jack!! not even $10 for a couple necklaces, bracelet & locket. So depending on how much you think they originally were, if just small pieces you won't be offered much. They weigh it from memory. Anywho I chose to just keep them for memory sake.

Well the current value of gold is over $1000USD per ounce so I would be expecting to be paid at market value or close to for it.

I've seen this on TV once. There are parties you can have, like Tupperware etc, where you bring along old jewellery you no longer want, they weigh it, work out if it's 9ct,18ct etc.. then work out how much money it is worth. Never seen it in the shops though?
