    Virus /breathing issues?

Yesterday Ds 2 Isaac (6 yrs) woke with a snotty nose (just like Ds3 and DD) I didn't think anything of it. by lunch time however he had a very wheezy chest. Anyways fast forward. I rang Dh at 4:00 to come home from work as I was very concerned about Isaac's breathing. it was like he was having sme sort of Asthma thing. I am an asthmatic and can see the symptoms. Isaac has never had a chest infection. So dh took Isaac to the hosp just after 5. They took him straight out the back. He had 3 breathing treatments (ventolin thru nebliser) they gave him a 4th one before he left but this one was through the puffer.

He has come home on ventolin 3 times a day (more if required) and prednisone. Dr think it was a virus which was causing his airways to constrict. He said he didn't want to say it was asthma (yay a Dr who doesn't just diagnose for the sake of it) as it was a one off event.

has anyone elses child been fine then go to that? It really was out of the blue.

Wht do you think we should do now? I was thinking a follow up visit tomorrow with our GP and go from there. The hosp Dr wants him on the puffer and prednisone for a few days

Sorry to hear your DS is sick, but relieved to hear he was able to come home after his hospital visit. That wheezing is horrible isnt it?
I would take DS back to the GP just for another checkup and so his GP knows about what happened yesterday. I have only had little V come down with a respiratory problem 4mths back, but it was bronchoilitis with pneumonia which was the problem. Although she was in hospital a couple of weeks, I was told due to what she had been through during her stay in hospital that there is a high chance that she will develop asthma. So fingers crossed she wont. However since leaving hospital she hasnt been on anything, however it has only been 4ths ago. She is starting to come down with the flu again, so am always checking to make sure I dont hear any wheezing, as she will be straight back up to the hospital if she does.
I hope your DS, doesnt end up with asthma, all the very best and lots of get well vibes to your DS. hugs
