I never did prefolds, but from what I have heard, the bummis pack is the go.
Darlings downunder did have them on sale, dont know if they are still there.
Your mum/grandma (if they are handy with a machine) can make the prefolds easy. apparently Maz cover rock over the top (and so cute)

ETA, bummis have the gussets in the legs for pooplosions BUT you can also get and all in one one size fits most nappy with gusset legs that you can lay a prefold in (so if its only wees, just put a new prefold in) the name of this miracle nappy you ask? POP IN. Great nappy, has snap in inserts so is an all in one, but the outer can be used as a cover if the inserts get dirty.

Haven't used the starter kits but I did buy the Swaddlebees unbleached prefolds. I found them fine but didn't use mine much as by the time I bought them we were moving up from Preemie size and then my DS was moving around. For moving around stage I found fitted and AIO's better BUT for covers when I used prefolds I used my OSFA pockets, minus the inserts (if that makes sense??). I used them as covers, meaning I didn't have to resize as he grew. But I still bought Maz's covers, they are so lush HTH

How many prefolds were you after?

I used my own of course and Baby beehinds when I had V. Im not sure if they make them anymore but I found them very absorbent.

Hi Maz, well I've just got a message from my mum on Saturday to say that she has ordered and sent me some prefolds. I don't know where she got them from or how many so I guess I just need to wait until they arrive before I know how many more (if any) I need, she doesn't do things by halves! But I will definitely let you know and place an order with you if I need more, lots of people on here are swearing by your stuff!

I haven't seen any baby beehinds pre folds so you could be right that they don't make them anymore.

I bought 2 dozen unbleached chinese prefolds from Little Koala, and I love them. I'm a huge prefold fan - they are so easy in the early days, and dry really quickly too. You'll need a really good cover to go with them - I love Motherese Rikki because of the gussets, good for containing those poo-splosions - but I also like my own handknitted longies and soakers for the cooler months.
