More down there probs..boys bits this time :)

Ok. More drama in this house than I can deal with

DS has an infection in his penis. He is very sensitive anyway & fell asleep with poo in his nappy yesterday & I think that set it off.

His whole penis a bit red & swollen yesterday, & weeping. Today its heaps better, but still not 100%.

My gp gave me bactroban for when we have issues like this. I was thinking about going to get him some antibiotics, but then looked up bactroban & its actually an antibiotic cream anyway.

I'm just bathing it 3 - 4 times a day (more if needed), to keep it clean & pulling his foreskin back just enough to open it up so I can get the bactroban in there (not far enough to do damage).

It is almost 100% better & I think it will be by tomorrow, but should I get him abs anyway? Is the bactroban enough? I'm thinking it is since its working, but I don't really wanna be putting it off if he needs something else iykwim?

    TIA

I wouldn't. We used bactroban for DS1 when he was a baby and it totally cleared it up.

If it's working I don't think you need anything else.

Ok, thankyou. Thats relieving, coz, sad as it is, I just don't have the $5 for the script at the moment!

If the cream is working try and avoid getting abx, the type you will be given for a baby boy with a penis infection has the side effect of nasty diarrhoea which can actually make the infection take longer to clear up.
