New to charting , need help..

i was just wondering if someone could help me?

I want to start charting my cycle.

All i do now is track my period, which is 28days inbetween each cycle, sometimes less if AF decides to pop up unannounced..

I've only read up on charting my temp. is there other ways? or is charting my temp the best way? and how do i tell when O is?? ive also read up on the ovulation thermonmeter(sp?) Are they good??

I'm not TTC atm but down the track i'd like to know how and maybe knowing how to do it might help me down the track..

    Thanks in advance

Have a look at the Fertility Friend website. there is a program you can use to chart temps and other symptoms and it will predict when ovulation occurs. It gives you a course by e-mail that is good, and explains all the changes that can occur, and what they mean.

I bought a normal digital thermometer from the chemist. Best results are when you can take take you temp at the same time each day, as soon as you wake up, before you move around.

I was going to suggest temperature charting using Fertility friend as well. You just enter in your temp each morning and then it tells you when it thinks you've ovulated. You take your temp each morning before you get out of bed. FF says to use a basal body thermometer as it's more accurate but I used a regular digital thermometer and my results were just fine. I charted for a few months before we started TTC and got to know my cycle really well.

When we started TTC #2 I never remember to take my temp but I already knew my cycle really well so I just went by cervical mucous. It gets really thin and watery like egg whites during your fertile time.

You can also track your ovulation using your other fertiltiy signs; such as, cervical mucus (CM) (CP).

The way this works is your CM will become clear and more stringy as you become more fertile. This will change about 12 hrs after ovulation has occurred. Your CP will also change as you move through your cycle. When you are not fertile it will be low in your vagina and quite firm to touch, it will also be closed. When you become fertile it will begin to open and soften, it will also move higher up in your vagina.

These things can take a cycle or two to get the hang of checking, but worth while keeping an eye on. They will tell you when ovulation is imminent.... basal body temp will only tell you you have O'd after the event.

Combining all of these is a great way to track your cycle

I used FF before/during TTC as well, and found it very helpful and educational! Tracking cervical mucus every day, and temping to confirm when I ovulated, all contributed to timing it all right for the bubby I am currently baking! Took a few cycles, but you get the hang of it and get to know your body really well in the process!

p.s. duno why you can't signup? maybe they are having server isues atm?
