So am only newly pg but cloth nappies have fascinated me for a long long time!
Am wondering how i should go about entering into this phenomenon, do i start buying now? Wait until bubs is born? Are there starter packs? Obviously i dont know how big bubs will be yet so how do i know how big or small to go?
I suggest getting NB/small covers and just some prefolds and flats. Also Baby beehinds OSFM fitteds are great too for little babies overnight. Thats a good start and from there you can trial all kinds of nappies
I would be trialing different styles of nappies, Prefolds with covers, AIO, SIO, AO2 etc, but go with some recommendations from the nappy queens on here as a good starting point, that way you can see what works on your bub and what doesn't, then you can stock up on the type that works for you and bub and you haven't bought a heap of nappies that don't.
For us we originally bought Pea Pods (pocket nappy - not thrilled, they tended to leak around the legs, except when boosted), Real Nappy System (Prefolds and Covers, DD was just way too skinny for these to fit her, so will be selling them at some stage) and we are now full time Itti Bitti D'lish users, would love to have a BIG supply of Bundles of Buns (OMG they are divine). But this weekend we are going to try and make our own, as DD will be going up a size in her IB's and MIL has gone out and bought all the materials to make some, so we will see how we go, should be fun in the process and if it fails well we know what works for her
I have also got a Haute Pocket which works well, but I can't be bothered stuffing nappies all the time
I also just recently bought an Ecobubs (small), it is a side snapping nappy with a wool outer), we got that to try the side snapping on the next bub, I like the concept but not sure if it will work or not, but will be a wait and see. The nappy is gorgeous too
You also have quite a bit of time to look, so sign up to a few of the nappy websites newsletters so you can get notified of their sales or bonuses, that way you can hopefully get some bargains to start off with. Also a lot of MPM's on BB sell them too, a great way to support you fellow BB'ers
