DD has a little rash on the back of her neck, it's like tiny red dots in a bit of a strip across her back kind of between shoulders but up a bit higher. It doesn't seem to be worrying her, but I just freaked a bit when I saw it! She had a few spots there last night but there seems to be a lot more tonight. It has been quite warm weather here for a little while and she has lots of hair. The back of her neck often seems a bit sweaty when I get her up from a sleep, would it be a heat rash?
Is there anything I can/should do to treat it/make it go away?
It sounds a lot like it might be heat rash. When you press on it or rub your fingers along it, does it blanch to white with the rest of her skin? If so, it is probably just heat rash. If not - if the pin-point spots are dark blue or purple and they stay visible when you press it - then this is a petechial rash and could be a sign of something more serious. Otherwise, it sounds fairly innocent.
Thanks Schmickers. I haven't pressed it, just lightly ran my fingers over it, when she wakes up i'll see if it goes white. It's not a bumpy rash, which is why I wasn't too worried about it, but if they don't disappear when pressed it'll be off to the doctor tomorrow. She's always been healthy and hasn't been sick yet, so I hope it's nothing! We aren't around other kids/people very often so I don't think it's too likely she has caught something. Or I hope not anyway!
it's pretty much gone this morning. there were a few faint spots, which did disappear when i pressed them, so i think it was a heat rash. thanks again for your advice.
