During my 1st pregnancy I put on a fair bit of weight in the 1st tri, i also had alot of changes to my body so started wearing maternity bras early on.
This time round I have not put on much weight at all, and only in the last few days I have noticed that my bra is getting tight (and boobs a little sore). I would like to spend a bit of money and get some nice maternity bras as i had some issues with body image towards the end of my pregnancy and following the birth of DS (the nanna bras didn't help). The problem is if i go out and spend the extra money on maternity bras now how do i know they will fit when my milk comes in following the birth? With DS I went from a C cup to a DD/E cup (while feeding) and am now back to a D cup.
Q:
Can I guess that my bra size when feeding will be the same 2nd time round?
And would most people start wearing maternity bras at this stage? or just get a normal bra fitted without the underwire (will only wear it for only 3 months, it seems a waste)?
Maternity bras should have a little bit of give in the cup so when your milk comes in, they will still fit. That means that they are not loose on you now, they will fit perfectly but the cup will be stretchy to allow for growth.
With DS I went from a C cup to a D cup and stayed there. This time in pregnancy I have gone from a D cup to a DD. Personally, I prefer to buy maternity bras during pregnancy as I will use them when baby is born until they fall apart rather than buy regular non-underwire and not be able to use them for bf'ing.
I also prefer the soft cup bras because they contour your boobs better so once your milk settles down, you don't have gaping at the top of the cup. I found that the firmer cups gape once the milk settles down.
My boobs went up two sizes just after 14 weeks and i went into maternity bras, i got one that fit me well then and a couple with a bit of give in them so i could grow into them
they are so comfortable ..im sure ill have to buy more bras later on so i didnt spend to much money on the ones i got .
I started wearing maternity bras just into my second tri cause my boobs got too big for my other bras.
I spent a little bit extra to get something extra nice and flattering.
Can't reccomend Elle McPherson's maternity bra range from Myer enough...
Mine is FAB- a little more expensive, but I found having bigger boobs to begin with (DD cup) my selection was limited.
SammyRo, funny you say that I just got back from target cause a friend metioned that to me yesterday, unfortunatly they only had up to a D cup in the styles i liked (not sure if it was just that store or if that is as big as they go). They were only $20 with the sale on at the moment so what a bummer.
Thanks Emma, I think I will be heading to Myer next weekend, will check out Elle McPherson!! They will also be able to do a fitting there so worth a little bit extra $$.
