    Food Storage Containers?

I'm considering getting rid of my old Tupperware 'Modular Mates' storage and replacing them with something that doesn't stink of plastic! I figure that's the BPA everyone's always saying is bad for you...

What does everyone else use? My preference would be for glass or ceramic - but I would want them to be airtight too - which is harder with those materials.

    What do you use?

I use the Tupperware modular mates but they don't have a plastic smell! I had a party last weekend and the rep said that Tupperware is BPA free now.

I think if you wanted glass or ceramic, look out for ones with a good rubber seal that would keep them airtight.

My husband used to work in purchasing at a company here in Germany that made plastic food containers called "Clip and Close" (as well as many other things). Brilliant containers!! That company doesn't sell their products in Australia, however, their biggest competition for plastic food containers in Europe (besides Tupperware) is "Lock & Lock", and they DO sell their products in Australia. So have a look for them.

The brand named containers are (and needs to legally be) BPA free. Stay right away from the cheap plasic containers. The chemicals found in those can be very dangerous.

i must goggle the Lock and Lock ones to see what you're talking about.

That brand should be fine. Manufactures have to be careful these days. The "cheap" ones I'm talking about are the no-name ones that you can find in shops like the "reject" or "$2 shops". These kind of shops may import the goods without knowing (or caring) what they are really getting.

Looking at the Decor ones though, they don't seem to be very "air tight". The Lock and Lock ones have a rubber insert in the edge of the lid, which makes it air and water tight. You can also freeze them and they are dishwasher and microwave safe (but only to warm the food with the lid off).

haha, perhaps I should think about a career as a tupperware salesperson when I move back to Australia??
