DD2 has had a cold for a week and a wet cough for about 5 days, its a wet crackly cough, is there any way of knowing if its just a cough or some sort of infection?? shes had a chest infection about 3 months ago and it sounds very similar, just wondering before i attempt to try and an a appointment at the dr's for her, i seem to live there at the moment
The things to watch for are if she is sucking in below her ribs when she is breathing, or if she has a blue tinge anywhere around her mouth. Also if her breathing rate is raised then take her to A&E. If she is just wheezy and coughing then it might be a good idea to get her checked at the GP for your own peace of mind, but babies at this age often have a lot of coughs and colds, and are prone to wheezes as they have small tubes. The GP will be able to tell if there is any chest infection by listening to where the congestion is (high in her chest or lower down).
It is awful when your baby is wheezy, I have had a lot of problems like this with my boytwin. The general rule is, if in doubt get them checked by the GP.
