I only have one Bub, but Im pretty sure what your feeling is normal and nothing to feel ashamed about. If you were ALWAYS showing one sibling more love than the other than I would think its a bit unfair.. dont be so hard on yourself![]()
Hi all,
I'm kind of ashamed I'm even thinking this. Is it normal to soemtimes prefer the company of one of your children over the other?
Ds is usually a happy, affable little man, but he's been really difficult the last few days and i couldn't wait to drop him off at daycare this morning and spend the day with just me and dd (who, incidentally, is behaving like an angel atm).
I feel bad. It's been the other way round too- before dd was on reflux meds, I preferred ds's company to hers. Is it normal? Is it something that will keep happening- occasionally I'll rather be with one or the other, rather than both?

I hope so babe!!!!
I think it is perfectly normal sweets. I do it all the time.
I can have a bad day with just one of the littlies, and tell Ad when he gets home, "that one is yours for an hour, Dont come near me, I'm playing with this kid!"...
It has to be normal to want the "good" one over the "bad" one.
The great thing is the kids swap roles, and you get to have them both equally in the long run!!
Oh, and the big kids do it too.....It is quite obvious when they have a "fave" littly for the day....

completely normal. You just have to be aware of it and make sure you 'hide' it from the kids as much as possible. It is not good for the kids to feel you have 'favourites' even if it is just tempory.
If it's any consolation, I remember having a favourite parent (which changed, depending on parents' moods) as a kid too.![]()
LR, I think it's totally normal. I have been through days (or longer) of feeling like that with each of the boys. It depend on what's going on at the time and how they are behaving. I think it's a normal part of any relationship - some days you want to spend all day with your partner, other days you need your space etc.
Well if it isn't normal then I must be abnormal as well
I find some days I would love to drop Ds3 off somewhere and keep DD at home.. But today I wish someone would come and take DD away for a few hours..
I am also the same with my older 2.. but this week so far I am happy for both of them to be at school
:hugs:
Lol yep I've been there too!! I think it is only natural after all you LOVE your kids the same all the time sometimes you LIKE spending time with one more than the other.
I think love for our kids is unconditional but LIKE is conditional. iykwim?
One of my favourite sayings is "ofcourse all parents have a favourite child - its the one who's being the best behaved on the day"

Totally normal.
Haha I like that quote Freya, so true!!
Yep I feel this too. (hugs) I often feel guilty for needing space from one of my kids, but I think it normal to need space sometimes.
lol yep I sometimes feel this too - glad to know its normal !!
Yep totally normal, (at least I hope so,otherwise i am failing miserablly) I can't wait for DS to start school, he is just at that age??? very disruptive when he gets home from kindytoday DD 4 was driving me crazy though, so sooky!!!! I reckon all kids need one on one time with you and their daddy at some point, so thats a good excuse, to get the break you need from the naughty, silly, sooky, whingy, clingy one
