So, my DD is almost 16 months and has always been a very keen BFder....loves it. normally feeds 5/6am (upon waking) 10am(before nap time) 3pm(just cause) 7pm(sleep time) and two/three comfort feeds in the night....we co sleep.
This week i have had my first AF since getting pregnant with DD. And we have been staying at a friends house looking after her DS. so not a normal week. DD hasnt had her 3pm feed for the last few days, i wait till she comes and asks for it, or is obviously grumpy and needs it. And then this morning had a very quick morning feed....normally the longest feed of the day, and then when i asked her if she wanted more boobie before we got out of bed i got a very strong 'NO'....normally any excuse to have boobie is taken!!
Is she weaning? or is it just the disruption of the week? i heard that AF can change the taste of our milk, could this put her off for a while? I always said id be so happy if she could decide for herself when to wean...and was thinking that i might have to give her a nudge cause i wanted my AF to come back so we could start ttc #2. I guess its just the natural course of things....what do you think?? Being faced with her not BFding anymore is actually making me abit sad. i like it too.
Bec, my guess is that this is just temporary due to AF. It is really common for them to refuse the breast for a few days when AF returns. It can be quite upsetting for us as mums, but the good news is that it does pass.
I echo that advice, she will quite possibly find the arrival of AF next time less upsetting but the first time can cause some problems just because the taste changes.
