    A "is it true" question

Today I was told by a friend that when Ashton starts school, I have to start looking for work if I want to keep receiving fortnightly payments. The only fortnightly payments I get is FTB A & B, and carers, although by the time Ashton goes to school the Carer's may have stopped as it is mainly for speech.

She kept on saying the "pension", but she only gets what I get. She was saying you have to actively seek work or do a course to keep receiving payments.

Anyone know what she is on about, or if it is even true. No idea where she heard it from.

Sorry if it doesn't make sense, it never made sense when she was telling me

No it's not true unless you're receiving Parenting Payment partnered or single.

I think if there was no Andrew then she'd be sort of correct (except it's not FTB, it's the parenting payment, I think?). Otherwise sounds completely incorrect, FTB A is particularly designed for families where one parent doesn't earn much.

ftbb is the one for low income member of a couple

and no, it's not true. if you're only receiving ftb and carer ALLOWANCE, there is no need to worry about it. there is no income support in that, it is simply a tax "deduction" for your children, paid to you in fortnightly installments. carer allowance is not included in any work obligations

for income support customer (parenting payment, carer PAYMENT) there may be an obligation, when your youngest child turns six (regardless of what time they start school) to enter into an activitiy agreement (looking for work, study) to receive your payment

Yeah, when the youngest turns 6. One of my friends has just started all that fun stuff even though she is pregnant, lol.
