Unhappy I think I have fractured my heel. In so much pain!!

    Has anyone done this?

Last night I was doing some walking and jogging on the treadmill and didnt realise until I took my shoe off how sore my foot was.

I thought maybe I had pulled something in my foot so I gave it a rub and then soaked it in a hot bath which did ease the pain a little.

I went to bed and put my feet up. I had to get out of bed about 30minutes later and I could hardly put my foot down without pain.

Well this morning it is absolutely agony!!! DD woke up and I had to go and get her. Walking to her room I was limping and trying not to put weight on my foot and then when I picked her up and had to walk back to my room to feed her, I was almost crying the pain was that bad. I think carrying her added extra weight to bear.

Even now, just sitting if I leave my foot flat just that little bit of weight on it is hurting.

I think I am going to need to go to the doctor. I dont know how I am going to go with DD today. Its going to hurt but I'll have to suck it up.

I really hope that I havent got a brake. So angry at myself. Just another reason not to be overweight. The stress of extra weight on joints and feet is just too much.

I used to get this and it's more likely to be plantar fasciitis - does this sound like what is happening?

Plantar Fasciitis is the pulling or micro tearing of the large ligament structure underneath the foot at its insertion point at the calcaneous (heel bone). In nearly all cases it is aggravated by the daily routine of standing (weight bearing) walking, working, exercise etc.

    Symptoms:-
Often starts with a “stone bruise” feeling and progessively over weeks intensifies.
Pain first thing in the morning immediately on weight bearing.
Pain after a long period of time on feet ie workplace.
Severe pain on weight bearing after sitting for some time.
Pain after exercise. Walking, holidays, golf, tennis, football, gym etc
    At night, even when resting.

    Usual Symptomatic Treatments:-
    Rest.
    Anti-Inflammatories.
    Stretching.
    Heat.
    Cushion pads.
Ice (rolling the arch over frozen bottles or cans of water)
    Changing shoes.
Massage, golf and tennis balls etc.
    Creams and natural remedies.
    Physiotherapy.
    Acupuncture.
    Orthotics and arch supports.
    Cortisone injection.
    Shock Wave therapy.

My DH had this, and after putting up with it for waaay too long, he saw a podiatrist. Orthotics fixed him right up, and he's been fine for years! I would say it's extremely unlikely to be a fracture hun, but still get it checked, there is no need for you to be walking around in pain

ali, if your in that much pain hun go the doctor if you can
. i broke my ankle and literally walked(hobbled) around on it for 5 days and put up with it.
and your going to hate me hun but if you can dont walk on your toes as prolonged time on them can shorted the tendon in your leg (thats what my ortho told me). i hope you can get some kind of relief soon xxxxx

    Thanks girls,

Nai that is exactly the symptoms. I have been walking on my toes on the outer edge and no thats hurting as i think it is putting too much pressure on those ligaments like you said Rach so i'll try & stop that.
