    RUST!

So we were using our fire grate as a bit of shade near the pool (weird i know) and DP folded it up and sat it to the side.
I was planning on putting this around our x-mas tree so DD can't get in and rip everything off.

Went and got it from outside and it's COVERED in rust, what can i use to clean it off?

Was thinking of maybe using wrapping paper on it but DD would just rip it to shreds and then we possibly wouldn't see most of the tree!

HELP i am putting up my tree tomorrow and don't want DD to ruin it!

    anyone?

was thinking maybe some eucalyptus oil and water and just run a cloth over it to get rid of the orange gunk?

Mmm would smell pretty then too!

If it's just surface rust you should be able to get it off with a bit of steel wool or a wire brush... if it's actually rusting away I don't think you'll have much hope...

If all else fails I'd just go down to bunnings or something and get some spray paint and spray paint over the top of it ><;; Just give it a wipe down/clean off first so you don't have any bitty bits flaking off...

Just give it a quick sand and like teagz said, just paint over it. Sounds like it'll only be surface rust anyway. But don't paint over it until you've sanded it.
