Can you just use bi-carb in a cloths wash?

    Hello,
Just wondering if you are able to just use bi-carb in the washing machine to replace washing powder, or does it only work to boost the effectivness of a commercial powder??

I suspect that washing powder is inflaming my DS eczema even though I've tried a number of different types including Aware etc. To date, his nappy area has been ok, and I've had him in disposables. I'm just starting to trial MCN, and would like to wash them in as little powder as possible, and am wondering if I can totally replace the commercial washing powder with bi-carb for the nappy washes??

    Any advice much appreciated.

I've used bi-carb alone before in the wash, DH didn't even notice a difference - so unlike him!

Can't really help re - effectiveness of it, sorry.
