How far back on a resume?

Quick urgent question. How far back is it worth listing past employment on a resume? I was thinking nothing older than 10 years. Would that be about right? I have to update mine quickly and I am feeling that a crappy office job from 99 is just not worth listing.

I definitely wouldnt include anything longer that 10 years ago, unless the position was specifically related to what you're applying for now or you wanted to point out something in particular about the job, your experience there IYKWIM?'If you did then I would just make it really brief - ie. one dot point about how the job relates to what you're currently applying for. If its not worth it, leave it out.

I was told no more than 10 years. I've put a few older than that if they're relevant to the position I'm applying for.

I also tailor my resume for each position - stressing the types of things they've asked for in the job description.

My work experience on my resume is 1.5 pages ... and I've been working for nearly 20 years in professional positions so I've cut it back to the bare bones. There's no point saying I've written newsletters in all the positions I've had. And yep, I haven't gone back more than 10 years.
