Transition out of Grobag/Cot into Bed

DS is almost 19 months and is an avid climber. If he doesn't have his Grobag on he can climb out (and into) his cot easily. DS has slept in a Grobag since he was born but we want to try 'weaning' him off the Grobag this summer.

Of course we're concerned for his safety and we'd have to also transition him out of the cot and into a bed if we want to stop using the Grobag.

We also are aware of making his room super safe when he does eventually sleep in a bed - he loves to climb anything (including window sills and the change table).

Any suggestions on how to make these transitions would be appreciated, even if the advice is to wait.

    TIA

DD1 used a grobag from birth and we moved her into a toddler bed from 19 months when her sister arrived but she isn't a climber like your little munchkin. I can't imagine DD climbing in and out of a cot

However, the transition from cot to bed went well and she was fine without her grobag. The rails on her bed keep her in (well falling out of the bed actually) but by the sounds of things, your little climber would have no trouble getting in and out.
