Unhappy ex FIL just had a heart attack

He is a gorgeous, generous, loving man and his son (DD's father) has caused him so much stress as of late.

We keep in touch, I organise visits for them with DD (last xmas we didnt even hear from her father, I called ex FIL to make sure they, as in her grandparents, had some time with her over xmas).

DD has only seen her father twice since march, and that was because she was with her grandfather.

I love ex FIL very much, he was always very good to me. I know he is ashamed of his moron of a son.

I want to take DD1 to see him in hospital. That's not "innapropriate" is it?

    He's her grandfather, I wouldn't think it's inappropriate.

Yeah I know, for her, but for ME to be there.... KWIM?

eta - I would hate to run into DD1's dad while we were there, I truly believe it's his fault that his father is in this shape.

I don't think so, someone would have to take her to visit, so logically that's you. IMO he is still technically a part of your life because of DD so it's appropriate. Now if your DH took her that would be inappropriate

    Hope he's ok?

I would definitely do it. I've kept in touch with XPIL and if XH wasn't living with them at the moment, they'd have a lot more time with me and the kidlets.

    Good luck.

Well, my now DH and ex FIL get along very well, they have had a beer a few times when ex FIL has dropped off DD. He'd have to take us anyway as I don't drive!

He is in intensive care, so I don't even think we can see him yet?

DD more than likely won't be able to go into ICU, I think there are age restrictions.

Sorry about that, I just kind of made the assumption that there might be anomosity between the ex's family & the new family. Sorry, I didn't realise
